Avation Orders Five Additional ATR 72-600s

ATR

The Singapore-based lessor strengthens its long-standing partnership with ATR, reaching 54 net firm orders to date

Toulouse, March 16, 2026 – ATR, the world’s leading regional aircraft manufacturer, announced today that Singaporean lessor Avation (LON: AVAP) has exercised purchase rights for five ATR 72-600s under a framework agreement signed in 2011. Deliveries are scheduled for 2028 and 2029.

This commitment covers the 50th to 54th ATR aircraft ordered by Avation since the start of their collaboration 15 years ago. Over time, this partnership has grown and strengthened, enabling Avation to build a substantial turboprop portfolio, which today includes 27 ATRs placed with operators worldwide. In just the past six months, the lessor has placed ATRs with three new operators.

Jeff Chatfield, Executive Chairman of Avation, said: “These aircraft strengthen Avation’s order book by converting five purchase rights into firm orders. The ATR 72-600 is widely recognized as the most fuel-efficient regional aircraft, offering the lowest cost per seat per kilometer in regional aviation and significantly lower operating costs compared to similar aircraft. It provides an ideal platform for operations on regional routes, as well as for developing and replacing older, less efficient aircraft. By committing to five additional ATR 72-600s, Avation continues its growth trajectory into the end of the decade and beyond, increasing the future availability of its fleet to benefit its airline customers in high-growth regional markets. Industry forecasts and independent analysts predict demand for more than 2,000 new turboprops over the next two decades to meet global fleet replacement and growth needs.”

Nathalie Tarnaud Laude, Executive Chairwoman of ATR, added: “Avation’s renewed trust is particularly significant, as lessors play a key role in expanding the ATR community. Many airlines discover the performance and efficiency of our aircraft for the first time through leasing, which in many cases leads them to subsequently invest in their own fleet of new ATRs. By exercising these purchase rights, Avation strengthens a partnership that actively drives market growth while helping us provide responsible and reliable connectivity to communities around the world.”
