Pratt & Whitney Acquires Aiir Innovations for Engine Inspection

Pratt & Whitney Acquires Aiir Innovations to Bring AI-Powered Engine Inspection Expertise In-House

AeroMorning – July 16, 2026

July 15, 2026 — RTX’s Pratt & Whitney announced the acquisition of Aiir Innovations, a Netherlands-based company specializing in artificial intelligence (AI)-powered analysis for aircraft engine inspections.

The acquisition strengthens Pratt & Whitney’s digital maintenance strategy by bringing in-house a specialized AI inspection capability focused on one of the most demanding areas of engine maintenance: the automated analysis of images collected during internal engine inspections.

RTX did not disclose the financial terms of the transaction, including the acquisition price, the financial details of the operation or the number of Aiir Innovations employees involved in the integration.

The acquisition should not be interpreted as Pratt & Whitney entering artificial intelligence for the first time. Like GE Aerospace and Safran, Pratt & Whitney has already been using AI and advanced analytics in areas such as engine health monitoring, predictive maintenance and operational data analysis.

The strategic importance of Aiir Innovations lies in the decision to bring a specialized computer vision capability for engine inspection further inside the company.
