GE Aerospace Expands Polish T700 Support Network for Apache Fleet
AeroMoning – John Smith – September 30, 2026
Introduction
In late September 2026, GE Aerospace finalized two complementary agreements in Poland as part of the broader localization commitments tied to the country’s August 2024 acquisition of 96 Boeing AH-64E Apache Guardian attack helicopters. The program includes logistics and training packages and is supported by GE’s January 8, 2025 order for 210 T700 engines, placed through the U.S. government’s Foreign Military Sales process with the U.S. Army. The two agreements establish a domestic industrial and technical support infrastructure for the fleet. The T700/CT7 family has surpassed 25,000 engines delivered, 130 million flight hours and operations across 15 aircraft types, serving more than 130 customers in over 50 countries.
1. The GE Aerospace & WZL-1 MRO Agreement
- Announcement Date: September 28, 2026, in the official press release titled “GE Aerospace and Military Aviation Works No. 1 (WZL-1) Finalize T700 Localization Agreement.”
- Partners Involved: GE Aerospace and Military Aviation Works No. 1 (WZL-1), a company belonging to the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ), based in Dęblin, Poland.
- Core Scope & Capabilities: Establishes WZL-1 as a licensed Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) provider in Poland, creating an in-country capability to maintain, repair and overhaul T700/CT7 engines.
- Fleet Coverage: Covers the T700 engines for Poland’s future AH-64E Apache fleet, as well as T700/CT7-powered Sikorsky S-70i Black Hawk, Leonardo AW149 and AW101 helicopters already operated by the Polish Armed Forces.
- Strategic Impact: Strengthens Poland’s domestic MRO capability and supports the long-term operational readiness of its helicopter fleet.
2. The GE Aerospace & WAT Training Agreement
- Announcement Date: September 30, 2026.
- Partners Involved: GE Aerospace and the Military University of Technology (WAT) in Warsaw, Poland.
- Core Scope & Capabilities: Establishes a separate framework for T700/CT7 engine training. WAT will manage training programs for Polish technicians, military personnel and WZL-1 employees supporting the AH-64E fleet, while preparing future engineering personnel for the Polish Armed Forces.
Conclusion
These two distinct agreements address complementary elements of Poland’s T700 localization effort: the September 28 WZL-1 partnership establishes licensed in-country engine MRO, while the September 30 WAT partnership provides the associated personnel training framework.
Together, they support Poland’s 96-aircraft Apache program, powered by its 210-engine T700 order, by extending the program beyond helicopter and engine acquisition toward a domestic industrial and technical support infrastructure.
