Aerotec Group Acquires Croatia’s Global Aerotech, Expanding European MRO Network
March 24, 2026 – Aerotec Europe GmbH, part of the Aerotec Group and backed by Borromin Capital, has announced the acquisition of Croatian aviation maintenance specialist Global Aerotech d.o.o as a strategic move to expand its aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services across Europe.
Strategic Expansion Footprint in Europe
The acquisition will see **Global Aerotech’s operations at Rijeka Airport (IATA: RJK) in Croatia integrated into Aerotec Group’s growing MRO platform. Rijeka provides a strong operational base: a 2,500 m runway, 24‑hour IFR capabilities and the capacity to handle large wide‑body aircraft make it well‑suited to serve airline customers across central and southern Europe.
Aerotec plans to develop the site into a fully integrated maintenance and transition hub, hosting a range of activities from aircraft storage and base maintenance to line maintenance, cabin refurbishment, reconfiguration, and teardown (dismantling) services. Infrastructure upgrades and new hangar construction are expected to support future growth — particularly as customers face ongoing industry‑wide supply chain pressures and parts shortages.
Complementary Capabilities and Broader Services
Global Aerotech brings complementary technical services to Aerotec’s platform, including:
- Line and base maintenance, supporting day‑to‑day technical handling and heavier maintenance checks
- Cabin renewal and reconfiguration, increasing flexibility for airlines transitioning aircraft between operators
- Aircraft teardown and end‑of‑life services, supplying parts and material back into the aftermarket ecosystem
- Scalable storage options, supporting both parked aircraft and transition/maintenance turnaround work
This integration significantly strengthens Aerotec’s presence in Europe — bringing broader service coverage and geographic reach to better serve existing and new airline customers.
Part of Aerotec’s Ongoing Growth Strategy
The deal continues Aerotec’s targeted expansion strategy, which combines organic growth with acquisitions of complementary aerospace services:
- In 2024, Aerotec acquired aviationscouts GmbH, a company with strong aftermarket and interior seating refurbishment capabilities.
- In 2025, the group added Opremic trade GmbH, an IT and MRO documentation specialist, helping to improve digital and process capabilities across operations.
- Later in 2025, Aerotec also expanded its global footprint with a Dubai‑based component and cabin interior facility, further diversifying its service offerings outside Europe.
Aerotec’s leadership views the Global Aerotech acquisition as a key component in building an integrated, digitally enabled MRO platform that can deliver a broad scope of maintenance and aftermarket support solutions to airlines and aviation customers worldwide.
Industry Context
This acquisition comes at a time when demand for MRO services continues to grow amid industry constraints such as supply‑chain delays and part shortages — factors that are prompting MRO providers to build more flexible and comprehensive service networks to support airline operators efficiently.
