Founding and what it does
Norsk Titanium AS is a Norwegian additive manufacturing company that specializes in producing high-performance titanium components for aerospace, defense, and industrial sectors using its proprietary Rapid Plasma Deposition® (RPD®) technology. The company was founded in 2007 by Dr. Alf Bjørseth and Petter Gjørvad in Hønefoss, Norway. It has developed and commercialized RPD®, a technology that enables cost-effective 3D printing of structural aerospace-grade titanium parts with significant reductions in material waste and machining time compared with traditional forging.

What RPD® Technology Is

RPD® (Rapid Plasma Deposition) is an advanced additive manufacturing process that uses a plasma arc and titanium wire feedstock to produce near-net-shape titanium components much more efficiently than traditional methods like forging or machining. Norsk Titanium’s process has been qualified for structural parts in aerospace, meaning the parts meet stringent industry requirements for use on aircraft.

Agreement with Airbus

In April 2024, Norsk Titanium signed a long-term Master Supply Agreement with Airbus Aerostructures to support production of structural titanium parts for the Airbus A350 aircraft program. This agreement builds on prior qualification of the RPD® technology with Airbus and serial production deliveries that began in 2023. Under this agreement, Airbus can procure parts from Norsk Titanium under defined terms, and multiple part numbers are being qualified and transitioned into serial production.

Other Contracts and Customers

Norsk Titanium has expanded beyond Airbus:

  • It supplies parts to Boeing and has approvals for Boeing 787 structural components.
  • It has contracts with major aerospace Tier-1 suppliers, including Leonardo, Spirit AeroSystems, and GKN Aerospace.
  • The company has industrial contracts, notably with Hittech for semiconductor equipment parts, and also work in defense production for U.S. Department of Defense contractors.
  • Diversification into defense, industrial, and energy infrastructure markets continues as part of growth strategy.

Financials, Revenue & Targets

Norsk Titanium has seen revenue growth in recent years, though still modest compared with bigger aerospace OEMs:

  • 2023 full-year revenue was reported around USD 2.5 million.
  • First half 2025 revenue was USD 2.0 million, up ~54 % year-over-year.
  • The company currently has parts in serial production generating recurring revenue (estimated ~USD 12 million ARR as of mid-2025).
  • Norsk Titanium is targeting significantly higher future revenue, targeting USD 70 million in 2026, with longer-term ambitions previously projected (now shifted) toward ~USD 150 million in later years as part of diversification and expanded production.

Profitability remains a work in progress, with expected breakeven moved into early 2027 due to slower part transitions in commercial aerospace.

Capitalization & Markets

·        Norsk Titanium is a publicly traded company, listed on the Oslo Børs under the ticker NTI.

·        Various shareholders include White Crystals Ltd., Scatec Innovation AS, and Global Portfolio Investments, among others.

·        Independent financial sources have estimated the company’s market capitalization around ~USD 140 million, although share price volatility and investor exits (e.g., from investor Ferd in 2026) reflect the challenge of scaling revenue versus costs.

Norsk Titanium has also raised capital through equity financing and rights issues to extend its financial runway as it continues commercialization and growth initiatives.

Summary

Norsk Titanium AS is a Norwegian additive manufacturing company founded in 2007, pioneering industrial 3D printing of structural titanium parts using its proprietary RPD® technology. It has a long-term supply agreement with Airbus for A350 parts, supplies parts to Boeing and other aerospace Tier-1 suppliers, and is diversifying into defense and industrial sectors. Its revenue remains modest but growing, with targets to scale dramatically in the coming years, while its market capitalization is subject to volatility typical for tech and capital-intensive aerospace suppliers.
