Singapore / Asia — SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC), a major aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) specialist based in Singapore, has successfully secured a 30 % equity stake in Arport Aircraft Maintenance & Engineering (Fujian) Co., Ltd. (Arport AME), marking a significant expansion into China’s aviation MRO market.

The acquisition was completed through SIAEC’s wholly‑owned subsidiary, SIAEC Global Private Limited, which won the stake via a public tender administered by the Xiamen Equity Exchange Centre. The transaction consideration is valued at approximately RMB 129 million (about USD 19 million).

Joint Venture Structure and Operations

Under the planned arrangement, SIAEC Global will coordinate with the current shareholders of Arport AME to finalize agreements and formally establish the joint venture MRO operation in Fujian province. The new entity will focus on:

  • Line maintenance and ground services across multiple regional airports, including Xiamen, Fuzhou, Wuyishan and Longyan;
  • Base maintenance services at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport.

Arport AME is a subsidiary of Xiamen Iport Group Co., Ltd (IPORT Group), which owns and operates several airports in Fujian. The initiative builds on earlier cooperation between SIAEC and IPORT Group, which began with a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in September 2023 and was later formalized into a non‑binding framework agreement in November 2024 to explore investment opportunities in the company’s Fujian aviation maintenance operations.

Strategic and Market Context

For SIAEC, the deal expands its footprint in the Asia‑Pacific MRO landscape, complementing its existing international network of maintenance facilities and partnerships. The Singapore‑based company provides a wide range of aviation maintenance services — including airframe, engine and component support — and serves more than 80 international carriers.

The Fujian joint venture supports China’s growing aviation market and aligns with broader trends of foreign MRO investment in the region, as international firms seek to establish local maintenance capabilities in high‑growth airports and hubs.

The joint venture would not materially affect SIAEC’s net tangible assets per share or earnings per share for the financial year ending March 31, 2026, reflecting a strategic rather than transformative investment for the group.

Company’s Public Statements

While SIAEC has publicly confirmed the win of the tender and investment plan, the detailed transaction announcement has so far appeared mainly in regulatory filings and company comments than through a stand‑alone press release on the company’s official press centre.

Background: SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC)

SIAEC is one of the Asia‑Pacific region’s leading independent MRO providers, originally formed from the engineering division of Singapore Airlines (SIA) in 1992. The company offers comprehensive line, base and component maintenance services and has built a broad international support network across airlines and aerospace manufacturers.
