Lessor Abelo Converts Three ATR72 Options into Firm Orders

ATR72

Toulouse, March 31, 2026 – Regional turboprop lessor Abelo has confirmed three additional ATR 72-600 options, stemming from an agreement signed with ATR during the 2023 Dubai Airshow. This order reinforces the lessor’s commitment to more modern and efficient regional aviation and highlights the strong partnership established between Abelo and ATR.

With these three additional options now exercised, the total number of firm aircraft ordered by Abelo to date rises to 36; the lessor also retains nine options and purchase rights. Deliveries are scheduled for 2027, further expanding Abelo’s portfolio and supporting its mission to provide sustainable and cost-effective connectivity solutions.

Abelo is experiencing strong success in placing aircraft from its order book, with one-third of all its firm commitments already placed or delivered. The company is also expanding its international presence through partnerships with airlines such as SKY Express, Aegean (Greece), and SATENA (Colombia). Earlier this year, Abelo also delivered two new ATR turboprops to Ethiopian Airlines.

Steve Gorman, Chief Executive Officer of Abelo, said: “Our decision to confirm these additional ATR 72-600 aircraft reflects our confidence in the ATR product and its relevance for regional operators worldwide. These aircraft will allow us to continue offering our airline partners the most efficient and environmentally responsible solutions, while maintaining highly strategic delivery slots over the next three years.

Nathalie Tarnaud Laude, Chief Executive Officer of ATR, added: “Abelo’s decision to further expand its ATR fleet demonstrates the strength of our partnership and our shared commitment to providing regional airlines with modern and high-performing turboprops. As a lessor with a strong presence across diverse markets, Abelo offers airlines flexible solutions to operate new ATR aircraft. Their renewed confidence supports our ambition: to deliver responsible and affordable connectivity to communities around the world.”
