HyPrSpace (France) and deltaVision (Germany–France) Sign Strategic Partnership to Support European Space Sovereignty
HyPrSpace, a pioneering company in the commercialization of space launch services powered by patented hybrid rocket engines, and deltaVision, a European industrial leader in fluid control equipment for space propulsion systems, announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement aims to support the development of HyPrSpace’s hybrid propulsion systems while advancing the maturation of deltaVision’s orbital refueling capabilities and dynamic space operations solutions. Together, the two companies aspire to develop a new integrated, sovereign, and resilient European space sector.
A Partnership Structured Around Two Complementary Axes
The MoU organizes the collaboration between HyPrSpace and deltaVision around two main axes, combining technological development and operational capabilities.
AXIS 1: Development of Key Components for Hybrid Propulsion
The partnership will focus on the co-development of fluid control components tailored to the unique characteristics of HyPrSpace engines, with the objective of maximizing the reliability and performance of next-generation launchers while ensuring compliance with European space standards. This industrial synergy will also strengthen mastery of dual-use technologies essential for both civil and defense applications.
“This partnership fully aligns with our ambition to develop sovereign and competitive launch capabilities in Europe. By combining our unique propulsion architecture with deltaVision’s advanced fluid control solutions, we are taking a key step in structuring a new European hybrid space industry,” said Sylvain Bataillard, CSO and co-founder of HyPrSpace.
AXIS 2: On-Orbit Demonstrations to Validate Technologies
Under this agreement, HyPrSpace will provide priority access to its orbital and suborbital launcher range, with the first suborbital flight planned for 2027. These flights will allow deltaVision to conduct demonstrations of its orbital refueling systems, a crucial step in validating the technologies under real operational conditions.
In the longer term, the partnership envisions missions integrating heavier payloads, including vehicles dedicated to dynamic space operations and multi-use dual missions.
“Access to appropriate launch capabilities is a key lever for demonstrating and qualifying our orbital refueling technologies. This partnership with HyPrSpace allows us to accelerate their operational validation, in preparation for large-scale deployment for future space operations,” emphasized Morgan Dias Simao, Vice President of Strategy at deltaVision.
Orbital Refueling: A Strategic Challenge for the Space of Tomorrow
Orbital refueling significantly extends satellite lifetimes, reduces costly replacements, and enhances the operational agility of space systems. It opens the way for a new generation of space operations, allowing repeated maneuvers without fuel constraints, more flexible mission profiles, and contributing to responsible space management by reducing orbital debris.
Towards a Sovereign European Space Value Chain
This partnership fully aligns with the National Space Strategy, presented by the President of the Republic on November 12, aiming to strengthen French and European technological sovereignty in critical domains such as propulsion, orbital refueling, and orbital operations.
The initiative also supports the objectives of France 2030, fostering the development of a local New Space industrial sector that creates high-skilled jobs and strategic expertise in Europe. It contributes to reducing dependence on extra-European technologies for capabilities critical to Europe’s security and operational sovereignty.
