On 21 November 2025, the French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA) qualified the first standard of the DAMOCLES remotely operated munition, developed by the industrial group KNDS France and the French company DELAIR as part of the DAMOCLES Short-Range Remotely Operated Munition (MTO CP) project.
On 2 December 2025, the DGA delivered the first DAMOCLES remotely operated munitions to the Joint Munitions Service for the armed forces, eighteen months after the development contract was awarded.
This remotely operated munition marks the scaling-up of a concept originating from the COLIBRI call for projects launched in 2022 by the DGA and the Defence Innovation Agency (AID).
By July 2026, a total of 460 DAMOCLES remotely operated munitions will be delivered to the armed forces.
As the first remotely operated munition industrialised in France, DAMOCLES will provide a new sovereign strike capability in the contact zone. Taking the form of a quadcopter developed by the company DELAIR, it is agile, precise and easy to deploy, thanks to a range of more than ten kilometres, day and night cameras, and an endurance of 40 minutes. It is equipped with a 550-gram fragmentation military payload designed by the industrial group KNDS France.
Observation is carried out using an optronic turret fitted with electro-optical and infrared cameras. The munition can be employed in the presence of electromagnetic jamming (GNSS and communications).
