Delta Appoints Matt Long as Managing Director, Alliances – Europe & Africa

Matt Long

March 3, 2026 – Delta Air Lines has appointed Matt Long as Managing Director for Europe and Africa, as the airline continues to invest in the transatlantic market ahead of what will be its busiest summer schedule ever in the region. In this role, Matt will help ensure that Delta continues to provide its customers with the premium, reliable, and carefully crafted experience they expect when crossing the Atlantic.

Europe and Africa remain strategically essential regions, generating a significant share of Delta Air Lines’ long-haul demand and premium revenue. Matt will oversee the coordination of commercial, operational, and customer experience initiatives across 35 European and African markets, working closely with Delta’s regional teams and its joint venture partners at Air France-KLM and Virgin Atlantic to support the airline’s long-term commercial ambitions. He will also contribute to the development of major infrastructure and modernization projects at Delta’s key hubs in Amsterdam, Paris-Charles de Gaulle, and London Heathrow, while leading the transformation of the customer experience in Europe and Africa.

Delta Air Lines’ transatlantic network now offers over 100 daily peak-period flights across Europe and Africa, including new routes such as Seattle-Barcelona and Seattle-Rome, New York-JFK to Olbia, Malta, and Porto, Atlanta-Marrakech, as well as enhanced service to Accra and Lagos. In addition to growing Delta’s presence in Europe and Africa amid continuing demand expansion, Matt will ensure that Delta continues to deliver a consistent, premium experience for both leisure and business travelers, particularly those connecting through Delta and its joint venture partners.

“Matt is a collaborative and forward-looking leader with a deep understanding of our global business and the partnerships that drive Delta’s success,” said Perry Cantarutti, Senior Vice President – International Alliances. “His experience in enhancing the customer experience, strengthening joint venture alignment, and connecting teams across borders makes him the ideal leader for this new strategic role. Europe and Africa are critical to Delta’s international growth, and Matt’s leadership will help us continue to improve performance and deliver exceptional service to our customers.”

Since joining Delta in 2013, Matt has played a key role in how Delta Air Lines and its partners listen to customers, enhance the travel experience, and create seamless experiences at the airport, onboard, and across regions. He brings to this role a combination of consumer behavior analytics expertise, deep product insight, and leadership in customer experience. He will draw on more than a decade of leadership experience at Delta in international operations, Alliances, customer experience strategy, and commercial functions.

In his most recent role leading Delta’s International Customer Experience Integration & Strategy team, Matt spearheaded initiatives to strengthen collaboration between Delta and its joint venture partners, significantly improving customer satisfaction across the airline’s international network. Matt will be based in Delta’s offices in Amsterdam.
