Paris, March 23, 2026 – Finnair continues the renewal of its narrowbody fleet and has signed a purchase agreement with Embraer for 18 firm orders of E195-E2 aircraft, along with 16 additional options and 12 purchase rights.
Finnair has also signed agreements with Pratt & Whitney (a subsidiary of RTX) for the purchase of spare engines and maintenance services for the PW1900G GTF engines that power the Embraer E2.
In addition, Finnair plans to acquire up to twelve Airbus A320/321ceo aircraft on the second-hand market.
Turkka Kuusisto, President and CEO of Finnair, stated:
“This combination of new and used aircraft optimally supports our growth and profitability objectives as we continue to implement our strategy. Through this investment, we are well positioned to offer our customers an expanding and attractive network, as well as exceptional reliability and customer experience. The introduction of the new E195-E2 into our fleet also reduces our carbon footprint, allowing us to progress toward our environmental goals.”
The first Embraer E195-E2 will join Finnair’s fleet in 2027
Mr. Kuusisto explains:
“The Embraer E195-E2 perfectly meets our needs, as it allows us to develop a stronger regional network that enhances connections to and from Finland, while efficiently feeding our long-haul network.”
Deliveries of the Embraer E195-E2, with a capacity of 134 seats, are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2027, with three of the firm orders to be delivered in 2027, six in 2028 and six more in 2029.
The E195-E2 aircraft are expected to be operated by Norra, Finnair’s partner. Norra provides regional traffic for Finnair using Embraer and ATR aircraft.
Arjan Meijer, President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation, said:
“Embraer is honored to support Finnair’s next chapter. The E195-E2’s unique combination of efficiency, comfort and reliability delivers significant added value: lower fuel consumption, reduced CO₂ emissions and superior profitability. We look forward to helping Finnair modernize its short-haul fleet to better meet demand, reduce emissions and drive growth.”
Chosen for its efficiency, reliability and passenger comfort, the E195-E2 offers more than 30% better fuel efficiency per seat compared to the previous generation E190-E1, along with a significant reduction in noise footprint.
The E195-E2 also offers a next-generation customer experience, featuring the quietest cabin in the single-aisle segment, modern and comfortable seating, USB power at every seat, and high-speed internet connectivity.
