Lockheed Martin’s job postings have been on an upswing in 2022, according to GlobalData. Analysis of the leading data and analytics company’s Jobs Analytics database discovers a 60% increase in total job advertisements. With 3,000 new postings in April 2022—compared to around 1,900 for the same month last year. The company is expanding operations in Pennsylvania and Florida, with additional hiring in Georgia.

Rinaldo Pereira, Business Fundamentals Analyst at GlobalData, adds: “Alongside new job postings, the number of new hires was also up nearly 80% year-on-year in April 2022*. Not that everything was rosy for Lockheed, as the amount of time it took to progress from a new job advertisement. To a closed position (termed ‘closure duration’) rose in April 2022. A rise in closure duration indicates difficulty in hiring due to labor or skill shortages. In its recent filings, Lockheed Martin commented on difficulties it could experience in contract performance and new program execution due to a shortage of skilled employees.”

In 2022, the company’s senior-level job postings seem to be centred around missile defense systems, F-35s and space programs. For example, Lockheed’s subsidiary Integration Innovation Inc posted a ‘Air and Missile Defense (AMD) Chief Product Owner’ role that focuses on missiles and space-related programs. Other posts by Lockheed related to these areas included ‘Director of Hypersonics & Adv Materials’, ‘Director of F-35 Production Control’, and ‘Director of F-35 Production Control’.

Pereira adds: “In a recent announcement, Lockheed commented on a hiring drive for its C-130J and F-35 programs, with a $15,000 sign-on bonus. The company also expects to ramp up hiring in Pennsylvania and Florida for F-16 and F-35 components. Further, the company hinted at an investment of ‘more than $50 million’. In the description of its ‘Hypersonics and Advanced Materials Director’ role. With the US likely to extend $20 billion in military aid to Ukraine, job postings are likely to go up even further.”
