ERA welcomes new Board to focus on industry rescue and recovery.

European Regions Airline Association (ERA) reveals the results of its recent board elections, announced at its first ever digital Annual General Assembly (AGM).

The results show 11 airline representatives were elected/re-elected to join the ERA Board, including a new President.

The new ERA Board will focus on sector and industry recovery post COVID-19, champion aviation sustainability challenges, promote and support regional connectivity and campaign for continued healthy industry competition.

Representing more than 60 airlines, ERA today announced that Jan Palmer, Xfly, has been elected as President of the ERA Board to assist in directing the strategic decisions of the association during these uncertain times. He is joined by Carlos Bertomeu, Air Nostrum and Andrew Kelly, ASL Airlines Ireland who have also been re-elected and elected as Vice Presidents of the association.

ERA is pleased to equally welcome to the Board: Luc Bereni, Air Corsica; Thora Eggertsdóttir, Air Iceland Connect; Jóhanna á Bergi, Atlantic Airways; David Manzanas, Binter; Jasmin Bajić, Croatia Airlines; Andy Green, Jota Aviation; Mikael Wångdahl, SAS External Production and Valter Fernandes, TAP express operated by Portugália Airlines.

Finally, Marco Balbo, Superjet International and Patrick Edmond, Shannon Airport have been voted to represent the association’s manufacturer and airport categories, respectively.

Jan Palmér, ERA President, said: “ERA celebrates 40 years in 2020 and the founders of the association can be proud of what has been achieved during these last four decades. To have been elected President of ERA is a great honour, but also a responsibility to further develop and strengthen the association together with our professional ERA team, led by Montserrat Barriga, together with all our members. Our industry does not lack challenges during these COVID-19 times. It’s simply about the survival of aviation and this has been ERA’s focus for the last seven months and it will continue to be until we have the pandemic behind us.”

Montserrat Barriga, ERA Director General, said: “I welcome our new President and new Board members of the ERA Board, following the election results. This is a critical time for our members and our industry, and I look forward to working closely with them over the next three years as we move towards recovery, post COVID-19. I am grateful for the wealth of experience we have within our Board and for the level of commitment each member shows to ensuring regional connectivity and healthy competition continues within Europe during these unprecedented times.”
