Aviator Airport Alliance secures full scope ground handling contract with Norwegian in Helsinki

Aviator Airport Alliance (Aviator), the largest independent ground handling provider in the Nordic region and part of Avia Solutions Group, has signed a contract with Scandinavia’s second-largest airline Norwegian. The multi year contract is for the provision of full ground handling services at Helsinki Airport (HEL), Finland.

The agreement, which will see Aviator’s subsidiary Aviator Airport Services Finland deliver the services, is extensive, covering 4,115 turnarounds annually. The volume of flights will be 56 weekly turns in winter, increasing to 96 weekly turns during the summer. Aviator will be providing full handling services for these flights, including passenger handling, ramp handling, and de-icing.

Norwegian currently serves 26 destinations from Helsinki across Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. In recent years, the carrier has steadily expanded its route network from Finland, meeting the rising demand for both leisure and business travel and reinforcing Helsinki’s role as one of its key Nordic bases.

Securing this contract with Norwegian is a significant step for our operations in Helsinki, securing our leading position in the highly competitive Ground Handling market. Norwegian is one of Europe’s leading airlines and is strengthening its presence in the Finnish market. We are delighted to support Norwegian in this ongoing expansion, and our committed team will deliver the high levels of quality and reliability that Aviator is known for across the Nordics,” said Kimmo Holopainen, Managing Director, Aviator Finland

“We are pleased to partner with Aviator at Helsinki Airport. Their proven expertise and commitment to operational excellence will help us continue delivering a smooth and reliable travel experience for our customers in Finland,” said Mira Linnamaa, Norwegian’s Communications and Public Affairs Director in Finland.

The Norwegian Group is the leading aviation company in the Nordic region. The group includes two major airlines: Norwegian Air Shuttle and Widerøe, which Norwegian acquired in 2024. The company employs over 8,200 people and aims to provide seamless air travel across both airlines’ networks. In 2024, the company carried more than 22.6 million passengers and operates 86 Boeing 737 series aircraft.
