Full Compliance with Strict Requirements: Shymkent Airport Gains New Status

This milestone allows the air gateway to carry out direct cargo transportation to European countries without additional checks at transit points.

Shymkent International Airport has successfully passed certification and obtained RA3 (Regulated Agent Third Country) status. This certification confirms the airport’s full compliance with the European Union’s strict aviation requirements in the field of cargo transportation.

The airport has been assigned a unique registration number and officially included in the European RA3 database. The new status makes it possible to carry out direct cargo transportation to Europe without additional inspections at intermediate transit points.

This achievement will help accelerate cargo delivery, simplify logistics chains, reduce time and financial costs for partners, and increase Shymkent’s attractiveness for international airlines and logistics companies. The certificate strengthens the airport’s position as one of the largest cargo hubs in Central Asia, expands prospects for cooperation with foreign carriers, and opens new opportunities for Kazakhstan’s foreign trade development.

Obtaining RA3 status marks an important step toward the country’s integration into international transport and trade corridors, while also enhancing the region’s business and investment appeal.

In addition, Shymkent Airport is planning the construction of a second runway. This project is part of a broader program to transform the airport into a modern multimodal hub of international scale.

The new runway, 3,500 meters long and 60 meters wide, will feature a PCN-80 pavement category, enabling the airport to handle heavy cargo aircraft.

Special attention is being paid to compliance with international safety standards: the facility will be equipped with advanced systems that ensure aircraft can land even in conditions of limited or zero visibility. This will significantly improve the stability and reliability of air services.
