Daher refueled its Paris Air Show display aircraft
with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF)

Paris Air Show, Le Bourget, France, June 26, 2023 – To promote the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), Daher has announced that the two aircraft on its static display during the Paris Air Show have been refueled with SAF-blended Jet A for their departure from Paris-Le Bourget Airport.

These two airplanes – a Kodiak 100 and a TBM 960, which are leased from Daher customers for their appearance this week at the Paris Air Show – benefit from the availability of SAF-blended jet fuel at Le Bourget Airport, home to this international aerospace gathering.

The SAF at Le Bourget Airport is provided by TotalEnergies, and is made from waste and residue sourced from the circular economy. It is produced in TotalEnergies’ French facilities at La Mède (in southern France’s Bouches-du-Rhône department) and Oudalle (in the Seine Maritime region). TotalEnergies’ SAF allows up to a 90% reduction of C02 emissions over its entire lifecycle analysis, compared to the fossil fuel equivalent. The SAF used for Daher’s refueling of its Paris Air Show exhibited aircraft is blended with Jet A1.

Flight operations performed by Daher’s Aircraft Division from its headquarters at Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrenees Airport in southwestern France – which include production, testing, training, maintenance and delivery/liaison activities – use a jet fuel blended with up to 50% of Neste MY Sustainable Aviation FuelTM, supplied by World Fuel Services.

Nicolas Chabbert, the Senior Vice President of Daher’s Aircraft Division, said the company is fully committed to the use of sustainable aviation fuel for the transition to low-carbon emission aviation. However, the availability of such fuel is still an issue, and the ultimate goal is to make this renewable energy available everywhere, he added.

“The example that we’ve set to utilize such renewable energy sources as SAF when available is already inspiring – despite the higher prices and tax differences,” Chabbert stated. “Our TBM distributor in the UK and Ireland, FlyingSmart, is using SAF at its Biggin Hill Airport base. Avex, the TBM distributor for the southwestern United States, is selling SAF at its Camarillo, California fixed-base operation. And we expect others to follow. The decarbonization of aviation definitely is on the move.”
