MARCH 2023 TRAFFIC AND CO2 EMISSION STATISTICS
WIZZ AIR CARRIED 4.3 MILLION PASSENGERS, AN INCREASE OF 72% YEAR-ON-
Geneva, 3 April 2023: Wizz Air Holdings Plc (“Wizz Air”), the fastest growing and one of the most sustainable European airlines, today announces passenger and CO2 emission statistics for March 2023
In March 2023, Wizz Air carried 4,267,274 passengers, representing a 72.3% increase compared to March 2022, at a load factor of 92.2%.
Wizz Air continued to grow its network and improve its customer offering in March, including:
• Wizz Air announced addition of one more aircraft to the Budapest base. A total fleet of 14 aircraft will serve additional frequencies on routes from Hungary and will support addition of two new destinations from Budapest to Copenhagen, Denmark and Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt.
• Wizz Air celebrated the launch of new routes from London Luton Airport and Gatwick Airport to Istanbul, Turkey. Flights from both airports will operate daily frequency.
• Wizz Air announced the launch of a new route from Milan Malpensa to Sphinx International Airport serving Cairo. This is Wizz Air’s first connection to Egypt’s capital city.
• Wizz Air was named Airline of the Year at Air Transport Awards. The annual awards are given to organizations in recognition of excellence and of achievements in the aviation sector.
• Wizz Air continuously operates amongst the lowest CO2 emissions per passenger/km amongst all competitor airlines, with 53.8 grams per passenger/km for the rolling 12 months to 31 March 2023. For the month of March CO2 emissions were 50.9 grams per passenger/km (9.1% lower compared to same month last year).
