Täby Air Maintenance AB Announces New Saab 2000 Cargo Conversion STC, Expanding Proven Regional Freighter Portfolio
Täby Air Maintenance AB (TAM), a leading European MRO and aircraft conversion specialist, is proud to announce the EASA approval of its Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the Saab 2000 Cargo Conversion, marking a major expansion of the company’s successful cargo modification program. The new STC builds on TAM’s long-established expertise with the Saab 340 Cargo STC, which has become a benchmark solution for regional cargo operators worldwide. The conversion project was spearheaded in close collaboration with launch customer Jetstream Aviation Capital, LLC of Fort Lauderdale FL.
The Saab 2000 Cargo STC introduces a modern, high-performance freighter option to the regional logistics market, offering operators a unique combination of speed, efficiency, and payload capability. The conversion is specifically engineered for express freight, e-commerce distribution, and time-sensitive logistics networks, seeking a higher capacity aircraft than the Saab 340 Cargo aircraft, offering sector speeds up to 30% faster, allowing for increased range deployment for time critical operations.
Key Features of the Saab 2000 Cargo STC
- Optimized cargo hold offering a strengthened carbon fiber floor structure with an integrated roller ball cargo loading system.
- LED lighting for reliable brighter light in the cargo bay
- Large volumetric capacity featuring a 6 net-divided bay system with a total cargo volume of 55.4 M3 / 1,960 ft3 and a weight capacity of 6,622 kg / 14,600 lbs.
- Business optimization of the Saab 2000’s high-speed performance, enabling faster network operations or greater range in time critical operations.
“With the success of our Saab 340 cargo conversion program, expanding into the Saab 2000 platform was a natural next step,” said CEO Jimmy Nordén, Täby Air Maintenance AB.
“The Saab 2000 Cargo STC provides operators with a modern freighter solution that delivers unmatched performance and efficiency in its class. This conversion meets the growing demand for express cargo capacity and reinforces TAM’s commitment to supporting the evolving needs of global logistics.”
The first approved aircraft is already converted at TAM’s facilities in Örebro and together with Jetstream Aviation Capital, we anticipate deliveries are expected in the near future. For North American operations TAM has submitted the EASA approved STC to the FAA for their approval.
TAM reports strong interest from operators across Europe and North America seeking to modernize and expand their turboprop freighter capabilities.
“TAM has a long and trusted history with the Saab fleet,” added Jimmy “Our engineering teams applied decades of experience from the Saab 340 Cargo STC to ensure the Saab 2000 solution provides the highest levels of performance and reliability. This program marks a significant milestone for both TAM and the regional air cargo market.”
