MEDAIRE SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT OF IATA’S FIRST-OF-ITS-KIND AVIATION SECURITY PORTAL
Incident and overflight risks tool leverages MedAire’s aviation security and technology expertise
MedAire – the world’s leading medical and aviation security provider – was recognised for its development of the newly launched security risk management tool available to member airlines of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
The IATA Security Risk Intelligence Portal (SRIP) helps airlines make informed decisions regarding incidents and overflight risks around airports and airspaces worldwide.
Following a competitive RFP process, IATA exclusively awarded MedAire the development project, citing MedAire’s in-depth industry knowledge, aviation security expertise, and history of innovation.
“Given the challenges we’ve seen in 2020, there has never been a more critical a time to provide this level of visibility to incidents that could threaten the aviation industry,” said Matthew Vaughan, Director of Aviation Security at IATA. “MedAire has delivered innovative solutions to airlines for more than 30 years, and their partnership in the development of the SRIP is the latest example of their contributions to aviation safety.”
MedAire engaged leading artificial intelligence company, Geospark Analytics, in producing the proof of concept for the tool.
“Threats to the aviation industry continue to evolve and span the spectrum from the mundane to the extraordinary. Developing the tool in collaboration with IATA and Geospark Analytics united MedAire’s security expertise with cutting edge technology. We look forward to the feedback from the aviation industry and continuing to support IATA and their member airlines,” said John Cauthen, MedAire Security Director.
“At Geospark Analytics, we understand the evolving risks of the modern world and have built innovative technologies to mitigate those risks. The combination of our robust data sets and powerful AI models, paired with MedAire’s industry-leading expertise, is the perfect example of how we can use machines to superpower human experts. We are proud to contribute to the greater effort of keeping people safe by maximizing aviation security.” said Omar Balkissoon, CEO of Geospark Analytics.
A long-standing IATA Strategic Partner, MedAire provides in-flight and ground-based medical and security solutions for airlines.
The Security Risk Intelligence Portal is available for IATA member airlines and IOSA registered carriers.
