Wednesday 27 February 2019, Soyuz will lift off for the 21st time from Europe’s spaceport at the Guiana Space Centre (CSG), to orbit the first six satellites in the OneWeb constellation—OneWeb F6—on behalf of global internet provider OneWeb. This will be Soyuz’s first mission of 2019 from CSG, and CSG’s second launch of the year.
With a launch mass of 886 kg (147.7 kg per satellite), these six satellites are the first of 650 in the OneWeb constellation. This constellation of new generation satellites will supply global communications services and ensure continuous internet access for everyone around the world.
The prime contractor for the constellation is OneWeb Satellites, a joint venture between OneWeb and Airbus Defence and Space.
