MOTI SHARPCROW binoculars: the ultimate advantage in the new battlefield
MOTI SHARPCROW, successor to MOSKITO TI binoculars, was unveiled on September 9 at the DSEI show in London. Its advances meet new defense needs.
The current conflicts clearly show it: war has changed. The battlefield has evolved significantly. Today, confrontation is much more shaped by calculation and analysis. Armies need speed, resilience in technologically hostile environments (GNSS*-denied), and ease of transport by combatants for their defense systems.
To meet these new needs, Safran Electronics & Defense is launching SHARPCROW, successor to MOSKITO TI with increased capabilities. The upgrade provides the armed forces a better assessment of the situation in terms of reconnaissance and target location. Operational effectiveness is ensured, even where GNSS is unavailable.
New contract with the Swedish Army
The SHARPCROW is lightweight (1.3 kg), robust, and modular. It is designed for dismounted teams, snipers, and Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTACs). Key enhancements include fast thermal start-up (less than 20 seconds), extended detection ranges, Full HD sensor resolution, a high-performance low–light channel with 48x zoom, a shutterless thermal channel, and eye-safe laser designation. Available as a complete system or as an upgrade kit for MOSKITO TI, SHARPCROW guarantees tactical superiority in the field.
These qualities won over the Swedish Army last September. A €44 million contract was signed during the DSEI exhibition in London. “Our ability to deliver the first systems as early as spring 2026 was a key factor in our success,” stated Alexandre Ziegler, Director of Defense at Safran Electronics & Defense, at the time of signing. The first deliveries are scheduled for spring 2026. Safran Electronics & Defense is proud to be working with Sweden to support its strategic autonomy and strengthen its critical capabilities.
