Liebherr-Aerospace & Transportation SAS has decided to invest approximately €45 million over the next ten years in the extension of its aerospace manufacturing site at Guaratinguetá in the federal state of São Paulo (Brazil). This milestone decision is based on the company’s trust in the local economic market conditions and related governmental support, as well as on the availability of a highly skilled workforce in the region.
Guaratinguetá (Brazil), January 2025 – Liebherr announces that it will expand the surface area of its production company Liebherr Aerospace Brasil LTDAin Guaratinguetá by 8,000 sqm. The new facility is expected to be operational two years from the start of construction. Over the next 10 years, around €45 million will be invested in the manufacturing site. The expansion will create hundreds of new jobs and thus strengthen the local economy.
The ceremonial groundbreaking will take place next month and transfer of work from Liebherr-Aerospace’s European Original Equipment Manufacturing sites in Lindenberg (Germany) and Toulouse (France) is planned to begin already in 2026 and ramp-up in the years to come. The production activities will comprise machining and surface treatment of high-precision aircraft components made of aluminum and steel.
“We are very happy and looking forward to extending our already well-established aerospace activities in Guaratinguetá,“ said Rogério Gimenez, Managing Director at Liebherr Aerospace Brasil. “The new building will help us to cope with the steep production ramp-up currently experienced by the aerospace industry and to strengthen our long-term competitiveness.”
A very important point also for the decision for Guaratinguetá has been the support offered by the Mayoralty of Guaratinguetá and the São Paulo State Government, especially regarding the taxation system. “Since the beginning of the discussions, the Mayoralty of Guaratinguetá has supported us in the approach with the State of São Paulo Government, which resulted in the commitment of the São Paulo Governor in applying the most competitive systematic in terms of taxation”, added Lázaro Silva, Managing Director at Liebherr-Aerospace Brasil.
“The work that you have been doing here and spreading all around the world in the aerospace sector is a source of pride for the state of São Paulo,” commented the Governor of São Paulo, Felicio Ramuth during a visit at the Liebherr-Aerospace site in Guaratinguetá on January 9, 2025.
Since 2005, Liebherr Aerospace Brasil produces critical high-tech components for flight control and actuation systems, environmental control and thermal management systems, landing gear systems, as well as for aircraft engines. The company is certified according to the latest standards, e.g. Nadcap, and can rely on an advanced industrial set-up.
