November 2016 – Officially celebrating the extension of Liebherr-Aerospace China, guests gathered on November 4, 2016 at the Shanghai-based center for liaison and customer service, which has doubled its size to 3,700 m² (ca. 40,000 sq ft)
However, the center has not only increased in space, but has added more maintenance, repair and overhaul capabilities, for example, the maintenance of bleed and air conditioning systems including air cycle machines. In addition, dynamic testing of ATA 21/36 components for Airbus single-aisle and long-range aircraft, Bombardier and Embraer aircraft as well as COMAC’s ARJ21-700 will be offered. Liebherr-Aerospace China is also able to service ATA 27/29 components and Liebherr-Aerospace’s OEM inventory is available for exchange as a rotable pool asset.
Developing support capabilities for Chinese customers
“Our goal is to enlarge our footprint in China on a long-term basis. We are therefore continuously growing and developing our capabilities in order to support our Chinese customers operating the existing fleets of Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier and Embraer aircraft, and future fleets of COMAC ARJ21 and C919 aircraft”, commented Josef Gropper, Managing Director and COO Production, Purchasing and Asset Investments of Liebherr-Aerospace & Transportation SAS. “The extension of our liaison and customer service center is an important milestone in our strategy of developing and enhancing support for our customers.”
The facility occupies three floors and features, alongside work benches, a storage area for piece parts and line replaceable units as well as areas with state-of-the-art equipment for planning, receiving, cleaning, rework, testing, inspection and shipping. A warehouse and additional office space for employees liaising and working together with COMAC in Shanghai on the ARJ21-700 and C919, with Airbus in Tianjin on the A320-Family and with HAIC in Harbin on the AC312 helicopter, were also established.
Located in close proximity to Shanghai Pudong International Airport, Liebherr-Aerospace China offers services to airlines based in mainland China including maintenance services and component support with short turn-around times. In order to ensure its high OEM quality and security standards, the company additionally trained its customer service team, which was recruited in China, at its OEM-facilities Liebherr-Aerospace Toulouse SAS, Toulouse (France), Liebherr’s center of excellence for air management systems, and Liebherr-Aerospace Lindenberg GmbH, Lindenberg (Germany), Liebherr’s center of excellence for flight control and actuation systems as well as landing gear.
Liebherr-Aerospace China, which is the Aerospace part of Liebherr Machinery Service (Shanghai) Co. Ltd., employs 37 people. It is certified by the CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China), the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency).
