BERLIN – 8th March 2017 – Germania starts the new summer season 2017 with a significant increase in capacity compared to last year. This was the message from CEO Karsten Balke at the opening of ITB Berlin, the world’s largest tourism trade fair, held from 8th to 12th March 2017. This year, the airline with the distinctive green and white livery is showcasing its flights within Europe, as well as to North Africa and the Middle East at stand 167, in Hall 25.
“Germania has carefully considered its priorities and has broadened its presence,” said Karsten Balke. “With more than 55 destinations, as well as a varied network that differentiates us from other airlines, and new partnerships, we are strengthening our business and are increasing our seating capacity by a quarter compared to last year.” In anticipation of the growth, Germania is currently integrating four Airbus A319s into its fleet and is equipping them with the airline’s standard high quality fittings, as well as its green and white livery. The aircraft will be ready for use by summer. Together with Swiss sister company Germania Flug AG, Germania will increase its fleet to 29 aircraft.
New to The Schedule: Athens, Samos, Usedom, Dalaman and Faro
In line with its growth in capacity, Germania is also expanding its presence at regional airports by stationing an additional aircraft at each of Nuremberg, Münster-Osnabrück and Erfurt-Weimar. Germania is also opening an ‘international outpost’ in Palma de Mallorca where a further plane will be stationed. More Germania aircraft will take off and land in Dresden, Bremen and Berlin, and more airliners than ever before will be flying to Mallorca, Gran Canaria, Crete, Rhodes, Cos, Alanya and Hurghada, as well as to Tehran and Beirut. Brand new additions to the summer schedule are Athens, Dalaman and Faro, as well as Usedom and Samos. New international airport destinations include Maastricht, Strasbourg and Montpellier, connecting Germania in more ways to Mallorca.
There will be further developments in the coming winter: Germania is expanding its presence at Berlin-Schönefeld and Nuremberg with the addition of an additional aircraft and it will be increasing its services to warmer climates during the cold winter season. Starting in October 2017, there will be flights from Berlin to diver’s paradise Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt, as well as – for the first time – from Dresden, Bremen and Hamburg. Germania will, of course, continue to offer numerous flights to its long-established destinations in the Canary Islands.
New Ties With Condor and Sky Express
Germania has also recently aligned with two new strategic partners. By partnering with Condor and Sky Express the airline will improve its connections making its services accessible to even more passengers. The partnership with well-established Condor enables visitors to both airlines’ websites the opportunity to view, select and book short and medium-haul flights operated by either company.
A new codeshare agreement with Greek airline Sky Express has also opened up a host of new opportunities for Germania’s passengers. Sky Express flies to 14 beautiful destinations from Athens comfortably accommodating passengers from Germany. Initially, connections to Athens from Bremen and Nuremberg will be available, and further German departure airports will be addded in 2018.
In Spain, Germania benefits from its existing partnership with Air Europa. This partnership includes an interline agreement, giving passengers of both airlines greater access to connecting flights.
Job Opportunities at Germania
In parallel with the increase in the number of flights, Germania is offering potential job seekers many new opportunities. The green and white airline is looking for applicants for a host of different jobs, from pilots and cabin crew, to managers and technicians. There are also vacancies at the company‘s headquarters in Berlin.
