- The airline offers two weekly frequencies to Innsbruck, Salzburg, and Tromsø and up to four frequencies to Rovaniemi.
- Almost 50,000 seats have been put on sale to these four destinations.
This weekend, Iberia launched flights to four of the most popular winter destinations: Innsbruck and Salzburg in Austria, Tromsø in Norway, and Rovaniemi in Finland. These four cities offer tourists a wide range of options, including visiting Christmas markets, snow sports such as skiing and sleigh rides, as well as having the chance to see the Northern Lights and enjoying the magic of Christmas by visiting Santa Claus’s hometown.
To travel to these four destinations, the airline put on sale almost 50,000 seats until next March.
“We are very excited to launch these destinations, which we believe will be very well received by our customers, especially those who love snow sports and Christmas markets. We are going to start operations this year with two weekly flights, and we hope to repeat or even increase these routes next year, as happened with Rovaniemi, which we inaugurated last year. This winter season we are offering more flights and for longer periods to Lapland, which represents an increase of 74% compared to last year,” said Carmen Giraud, Sales Manager for Europe, the ME, and Asia at Iberia.
Innsbruck, Snow Sports, and Cultural Tourism
Surrounded by the stunning Tyrolean Alps, Innsbruck is known for its natural beauty and rich history, making it a popular destination for both winter sports enthusiasts (it hosted the Olympic Games in 1964 and 1976) and those looking to explore its cultural heritage.
From yesterday until 26 March 2025, Iberia offers two weekly flights, on Wednesdays and Sundays, between Madrid and Innsbruck. In total, 12,648 seats have been put on sale between both cities.
Salzburg, Christmas Charm in its Markets
This Austrian city is known for being the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the setting for the iconic film “The Sound of Music”. Salzburg is also a must-see during the winter, where, in addition to enjoying its incredible cultural heritage, the Christmas markets add a festive touch with dozens of wooden stalls decorated with lights, selling handicrafts and local food. The most famous of these is the Christkindlmarkt, in Salzburg’s market square, but there are many other smaller markets such as the one in Residenzplatz and the one set in the gardens of Heilbronn Palace.
For those planning to travel to this Austrian city, Iberia offers direct flights to Salzburg with two weekly frequencies, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, until 29 March. There will be 13,320 seats connecting both cities during these four months.
Tromsø, Where the Northern Lights Illuminate the Polar Sky
Known as the Arctic capital, Tromsø is one of the best cities in the world to see the Northern Lights. Located above the Arctic Circle, this destination is ideal for tourists looking to enjoy the snow and nature. In fact, at the end of January, this Norwegian town hosts the Northern Lights Festival, with classical, modern, and jazz music performances in a natural setting surrounded by fjords.
Iberia has put 10,044 seats on sale to travel to Tromsø until 2 March, offering two weekly flights, on Thursdays and Sundays.
Rovaniemi and the Magic of Santa Claus
One of the most iconic Christmas locations, Rovaniemi is located in the Lapland region of Finland and is famous for being the official home of Santa Claus, where thousands of tourists come every year to deliver their letters with their gift requests. It is also an ideal destination for those looking to enjoy outdoor activities such as sleigh rides, ice fishing, and snowmobile rides, as well as seeing the Northern Lights.
Iberia scheduled flights to Rovaniemi until 1 March, with up to 4 flights a week in December, on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. These will be the most exciting flights in the entire Iberia network, as on board there will be letters to be delivered to Santa Claus and delicious Christmas cookies.
A total of 13,392 seats have been put on sale for this destination.
