Iberia and Aerolíneas Argentinas join forces

Iberia and Aerolíneas Argentinas join forces

Iberia and Aerolíneas Argentinas join forces to bring Argentina and Spain closer than ever

  • The two airlines have reached an agreement whereby customers will have the possibility to connect their transatlantic flights with 37 destinations within Argentina and 29 in Spain.
  • From March 27, 2025, customers of both airlines will be able to reach domestic destinations in each country with a single ticket and in a more agile and comfortable way, without the need to purchase their journeys separately.
  • Connections within Argentina will be made from Ezeiza and Aeroparque airports, while in the capital of Spain, the connection to the final destination will be via Madrid-Barajas T4.

Iberia and Aerolíneas Argentinas have reached an agreement that will bring Argentina and Spain closer than ever. Thanks to this alliance, which will be effective from March 27, 2025, customers of both airlines will be able to connect their transatlantic flights with more than 37 destinations within Argentina and 29 within Spain.

Specifically, customers who purchase their tickets with Iberia, who previously had to obtain a separate flight to or from cities beyond Buenos Aires, will now have access to 37 destinations within the country operated by Aerolíneas Argentinas, including some such as Córdoba, Mendoza, Bariloche, Mar de Plata, Rosario, Ushuaia, Iguazú, Tucumán, or El Calafate, to name a few.

Similarly, travelers crossing the Atlantic on-board Aerolíneas Argentinas will have 29 cities within Spain at their disposal, which they will reach on flights operated by Iberia from Madrid-Barajas T4, including Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Bilbao, Málaga, Granada, Palma de Mallorca, Ibiza, or Tenerife, among others.

In this way, traveling between Argentina and Europe will be easier and more comfortable than ever, as all journeys will be made through a single reservation, and a single check-in, from the city of origin to the final destination.

For example, an Iberia passenger will be able to fly between Madrid and Bariloche, connecting in Buenos Aires-Ezeiza or Aeroparque, with a single ticket. On the other hand, Aerolíneas Argentinas passengers will be able to fly with the same ticket between Buenos Aires and Bilbao, connecting in Madrid-Barajas.

Fabián Lombardo, President and General Manager of Aerolíneas Argentinas, stated that “this alliance with Iberia is a natural response to our historical cultural and business ties. Argentinians have deep roots in Spain, and this type of agreement will allow us to bring them closer to their origins through a new network of destinations, adding a partner with a high reputation in the market. Additionally, it will allow Iberia passengers to reach the wonderful destinations we have to offer in Argentina.”

For his part, Marco Sansavini, CEO and President of Iberia, highlighted that “we are very proud to announce this alliance with Aerolíneas Argentinas, a company with a long history of service in Latin America. Thanks to this agreement, we will be able to offer our customers the best travel options in a market as relevant as Argentina. From now on, the more than 2,000 people we transport daily in the three daily operations we have between Buenos Aires and Madrid will have at their disposal a complete domestic connectivity network to move comfortably and efficiently through the wonderful country that is Argentina.”

Iberia has been flying from Spain for 97 years with the purpose of generating prosperity, connecting people with the world. It is the leading airline in flights between Europe and Latin America, where it offers direct flights to 18 destinations in 16 countries in the region. Together with Iberia Express and Iberia Regional Air Nostrum, it has a fleet of 167 aircraft and offers flights to 143 destinations in fifty countries around the world from Madrid airport, where it has developed its hub. It is part of the IAG airline group, the first in the world to commit to achieving zero net emissions by 2050, and to operate with 10 per cent sustainable aviation fuel by 2030. Over the last decade, it consistently appears among the most punctual airlines in Europe and the world. In 2024 Iberia was the 2nd most punctual airline in Europe and the 8th most punctual in the world.
