HKBAC’s Transformation: A New Era For Private Jet Passengers

HKBAC’s Transformation: A New Era For Private Jet Passengers

The Hong Kong Business Aviation Centre (HKBAC) is undergoing an exciting transformation that will redefine the private jet travel experience. With a USD 50 million expansion currently underway, the project will elevate every aspect of HKBAC’s facilities, services, and passenger experience.

Since its opening in 1998, HKBAC has been at the forefront of providing world-class aircraft support, ground handling, and passenger services. The extensive expansion, which began in October 2022, marks a significant milestone in HKBAC’s ongoing commitment to excellence and in meeting the evolving needs of both business and leisure travelers.

A standout addition to the facility will be the HKBAC Pavilion, a new annex designed to cater to larger groups, pet flights, and charter services. The pavilion aims to innovate the traditional lounge experience by offering both indoor and outdoor spaces, creating a more dynamic and welcoming ambiance for passengers. With flexible layouts and versatile design elements, the space will cater for the evolving nature of private jet travel such as theme tours or pet-friendly options, says Vivien Lau, CEO, HKBAC, “We recognize that our customer base is evolving, and we are welcoming more families, children, pets, and groups than ever before. Our new space will reflect this while ensuring that business travelers and crew continue to have quiet, private spaces for their work.”

To further elevate the traveler experience, HKBAC is enhancing its food and beverage offerings with collaborations from local hospitality brands, bringing authentic Hong Kong-themed experiences into the lounges. Charise Shek, Director of Customer Experience, HKBAC, says “We are setting the stage for overseas travelers, particularly those arriving via charter, with unforgettable, tailored experiences that elevate every moment spent at the terminal.”

The design philosophy behind the new spaces at HKBAC emphasizes accommodating diverse passenger groups.

“Our spaces will be designed to meet the needs of all, from families and children to corporate travelers and crew, feature with more ensuite facilities, enhancing privacy and comfort for passengers.” says Shek. Sustainability will also be a key element of the new spaces, with green features and landscaping incorporated to create fresh, open environments that align with passengers’ preferences for natural light and fresh air.

The expansion represents HKBAC’s proactive approach to enhancing its services and facilities, further solidifying its position as a leading player in business aviation in the world. “As Hong Kong’s business aviation hub, we see this expansion as a reflection of our ongoing commitment in providing worldclass travel experience and serving as an ambassador for Hong Kong,” adds Lau.

In response to the growing demand for efficiency, HKBAC is also expanding its JetLink service. This service meets the growing trend of combining commercial and private aviation, enabling passengers to save up to 80% of their time when compared to traditional processes. With JetLink, travellers can seamlessly connect to commercial flights, skipping long queues and reducing the stress of multi-leg journeys, while still enjoying the premium service of private aviation.

Although its expansion is expected to be fully completed by early 2026, HKBAC has already received numerous accolades for its ongoing commitment to excellence. The FBO has been awarded the “Best FBO and Ground Handling Agent” title for the fifth time and was recognized as the “Safety Champion” at the 2024 Asian Business Aviation Association (AsBAA) Icons of Aviation Awards. HKBAC has also been named “Best Asian FBO” for an impressive 17 consecutive years in the Professional Pilot Magazine’s 2024 PRASE Survey.

As the expansion continues, HKBAC remains focused on creating a seamless, comprehensive experience for travelers. The new terminal facility, spaces, lounges, dining options, and amenities are all designed to ensure that every aspect of a traveler’s journey is as smooth, efficient, and enjoyable as possible. With the addition of an all-weather canopy for improved boarding comfort, HKBAC is setting the stage for the future of private aviation.
