Company Moment: Key Player in Embedded Digital Experience

Company Overview

Founded in 2013 by Tanguy Morel and Michael Serres, Moment is a French technology company specializing in embedded entertainment, connectivity, and digital commerce solutions for the transportation sector. Headquartered in Paris, Moment also has offices in Miami, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Dubai, supporting its international growth.

Scope of Activities

Moment operates across multiple transport modes:

  • Aviation: more than 300 equipped aircraft (commercial, business aviation)
  • Rail: over 500 trains equipped in Europe (SNCF, OUIGO, Lyria, Intercités…)
  • Maritime: cruises, ferries, crew vessels
  • Lounges / VIP areas: airport VIP lounges (e.g., Nice Côte d’Azur Airport) or the SNCF Grand Voyageur Lounges using their Mood platform

Users & Reach

Moment reaches over 135 million passengers per year with its embedded solutions.

Workforce

Moment has about 30 to 40 employees.

Technology Solution

Moment offers an all-in-one solution: hardware, software, and content for transport operators.
Key products/platforms include:

  • Flymingo Box: Content is preloaded from the ground to the aircraft on ground. This is done before the flight via a network cable or USB to the airplane Flymingo Box server. A single box provides complete coverage on a single-aisle aircraft (up to 100 passengers). Passengers connect to the aircraft’s internal network from their tablets, smartphones, or computers to stream content.
  • Flymingo Connect: Content is preloaded from the ground to the aircraft on ground. This is done before the flight via a network cable or USB or wifi ground connection in the hangar. If the aircraft has satellite connectivity, Flymingo Connect can also synchronize with live streams, e.g., weather updates, live announcements, or pay-per-view content. Connected to IoT sensors, the solution allows passengers to control features such as air, tablet, seat, etc. Similarly, the cabin crews can check onboard safety.
  • Mood Portal: Through this portal, passengers can access multimedia content (films, series, music, magazines), travel information in real time (schedules, flights, gates, alerts), and shopping or promotions (duty-free, partner offers). All without installing an app—accessible directly via any browser.
  • Airfree Marketplace: Moment’s digital e-commerce ecosystem, enabling carriers to monetize via duty-free sales, reselling, intelligent cross-selling, and ancillary services.

Competitive Advantages

  • “One shop box”: Moment provides everything (HW + SW + service), simplifying deployment for operators.
  • Modularity and flexibility: Technology adapts to very different fleets (non-connected / connected aircraft, trains, ships).
  • Offline-first focus: For rail, content is preloaded on the onboard server and available offline, ensuring a smooth experience even without connection.
  • Monetization potential: Advertising, e-commerce, ancillary services via Mood and Airfree.

Clients & Use Cases

  • Aviation: Malaysia Airlines, Saudia Airlines, Air Corsica, Air Sierra Leone, Nok Air, Wamos Air, …
  • Rail: SNCF, OUIGO, Lyria
  • Maritime: Brittany Ferries, Corsica Linea (Business France)
  • VIP lounges: Mood deployed at Nice Côte d’Azur Airport

Development Strategy

Moment raised €5 million on March 1, 2024 from Eiffel Investment Group to accelerate expansion, especially in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.
The company recently strengthened its Asia-Pacific presence with offices in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, reflecting its ambition in this high-growth region.

Competitive Position

Competitors include Airfree, Infly, Blue Box (typical players in IFEC/connectivity).
Moment differentiates itself as a one-stop-shop provider: hardware, software, content, services, and monetization (e-commerce & advertising platform). Its digital portal, recognized for its performance and ergonomics, is intuitive and user-friendly.

Outlook & Challenges

  • The IFE&C market is transforming: more connected aircraft and growing passenger demand for rich portals (Wi-Fi + content + e-commerce).
  • New products and improvements are being developed for 2026, with the aim of supporting the evolution towards an ever more connected onboard experience.

International expansion, especially in Asia-Pacific, is a key growth lever but comes with challenges (regulatory, logistical, content adaptation, etc.).
