AVOLON AGREES SALE AND LEASEBACK OF BOEING 787-9

AVOLON AGREES SALE AND LEASEBACK OF BOEING 787-9 DREAMLINER WITH TAAG ANGOLA AIRLINES

Dublin | 23 October 2025: Avolon, a leading global aviation finance company, announces the agreement of a sale and leaseback for one new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft to TAAG Angola Airlines (‘TAAG’), the national carrier of Angola. This is Avolon’s first aircraft on lease to TAAG and it was delivered at the end of September.

Powered by General Electric GEnx engines, the aircraft has a range of over 7,500 nautical miles. It will support the expansion of TAAG’s long-haul connectivity, with the airline’s fleet of 18 aircraft already flying to multiple destinations across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

Paul Geaney, President and Chief Commercial Officer of Avolon, commented:

“We are proud to welcome TAAG Angola Airlines as a new customer and support the growth of their widebody fleet. Africa is expected to be one of the fastest growing regions for aviation over the next twenty years, driven by the rising demand for travel and growing economies. As Angola’s flag carrier, TAAG will play an important role in expanding the route network across the region. We look forward building on our relationship and supporting their continued growth.”

Nelson Rodrigues de Oliveira, CEO of TAAG Angola Airlines, commented:

“The delivery of the 787-9 from Avolon is a pivotal step in our strategy to modernise TAAG Angola Airlines’ fleet. This airplane brings the efficiency and versatility we need to meet growing market demands, replace our aging widebody fleet, and deliver a world-class experience to our passengers.”
