AsteRx RB3 new GNSS

AsteRx RB3 new GNSS

AsteRx RB3 new GNSS, an ultra-rugged receiver from Septentrio (part of Hexagon), has been unveiled alongside the RBi3

High-accuracy RTK positioning for machine control and industrial automation operating in the harshest environments.

Leuven, Belgium – April 7, 2025 – Septentrio, part of Hexagon, a leader in high-precision GNSS¹ and GNSS/INS positioning solutions, announces the launch of two new products: AsteRx RB3 GNSS receiver and AsteRx RBi3 GNSS/INS (Inertial Navigation System). These IP69K-rated receivers push the limits of durability even further with the most rugged housing and components yet. They are designed to withstand the harshest of environments and have undergone rigorous testing and validation according to ISO standards.

Under the hood is state-of-the-art multi-frequency GNSS technology, delivering robust centimetre-level positions even during heavy shocks and vibrations and in environments which are challenging for GNSS². Such high levels of electrical, mechanical, and environmental robustness make these receivers an ideal positioning solution for machine guidance in construction, mining, or port automation.

“RB3 and RBi3 set a new benchmark for rugged GNSS receivers, delivering unmatched durability and precision in the toughest environments. Designed to withstand extreme conditions, they ensure reliable positioning and orientation when it matters most. Precision you can trust. Durability you can depend on,” stated Silviu Taujan, product manager at Septentrio.

Such a robust design allows AsteRx RB3 and RBi3 to be attached to the outside of heavy machinery or to a chassis enabling flexibility of placement and ease of installation as well as increasing the overall uptime and productivity of the whole system. AsteRx RBi3 leverages FUSE+ technology to combine a high-performance GNSS engine with an industrial-grade inertial sensor, delivering accurate orientation (heading, pitch and roll) in addition to reliable positioning. In a dual-antenna configuration the receivers deliver GNSS heading with sub-degree accuracy, which is available immediately from the start.

Meet our GNSS experts and see AsteRx RB3 and RBi3 for yourself at Bauma in Munich, Germany, April 7-13.

¹ Global Navigation Satellite System including the American GPS, European Galileo, Russian GLONASS, Chinese BeiDou, Japan’s QZSS and India’s NavIC. These satellite constellations broadcast positioning information to receivers which use it to calculate their absolute position.

² Septentrio’s multi-frequency technology makes use of all available GNSS satellites and their signals so that positioning is available even when parts of the sky are blocked by cliffs or high structures. In cases where the sky is temporarily fully blocked a GNSS/INS system helps to improved positioning performance.  Our patented APME+ (A Posteriori Multipath Estimation) technology mitigates multipath, which can degrade satellite signals when they are reflected off large structures such as fences or buildings.
