Additional flight changes and increased passenger flexibility from AEGEAN following COVID-19 pandemic announcement and urgent travel restrictions
Following the elevation of COVID-19 to pandemic status and the ensuing Directives by EU, Greece and other states within or outside the EU, severely limiting ability to travel for specific nationalities as well as to destinations, AEGEAN is obliged to proceed with drastic further reduction measures to its network. Within the next few days, and with duration until the end of April, the majority of the frequencies of the international network will be gradually discontinued while the domestic network will also be significantly curtailed in terms of frequency. A minimum service schedule to major EU destinations and all domestic destinations will be retained at this time.
Naturally the main objective of the company, at this time, continues to be how to best contribute to the resolution of the health crisis and to best protect its customers and employees. Additionally, in cooperation with Greek authorities, Aegean has and is able to if requested, operate repatriation flights from destinations which have been discontinued.
AEGEAN has already instituted a zero rebooking fee policy for its passengers should they wish to book for later dates. Furthermore for passengers whose flights are being canceled and who do not want to immediately rebook, AEGEAN will be now offering a credit voucher, of equal value to the original ticket. The voucher may be used by the passenger in any route in AEGEAN’s and Olympic Air’s network for one year after its issuance. With this new flexibility affected passengers can keep their options open and pick another route of their choice at their desired time.
Passengers are encouraged to visit the company’s web site at www.aegeanair.com for information. The web site registration process for the credit voucher will be in place by March 19. As a result, there is no reason to access the call center in order to either rebook or to register for the voucher, which will be only available through the web.
