On October 20, 2025 Korean Air has announced a strategic partnership with Archer Aviation to bring electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft to South Korea, marking a significant step in the country’s urban air mobility development.
Under the agreement, Archer will serve as Korean Air’s exclusive partner for the introduction of eVTOL aircraft, providing both aircraft and technology expertise. The collaboration aims to explore the deployment of electric air taxis and other advanced air mobility solutions across major Korean cities, with a focus on reducing congestion and enhancing sustainable transportation options.
The partnership combines Archer’s innovative eVTOL designs with Korean Air’s extensive aviation experience and operational infrastructure, creating a platform for safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly urban air travel. Korean Air plans to integrate the aircraft into its broader mobility network, supporting both passenger transport and potentially cargo operations in urban environments.
While no specific timeline for commercial operations has been released, the companies emphasized that the collaboration will also include joint testing, certification processes, and community engagement to ensure safety and public acceptance.
This agreement positions Korean Air as one of the early adopters of eVTOL technology in Asia and reinforces Archer’s global expansion strategy for its electric aircraft programs.
