First long-range drone deliveries in Germany

First long-range drone deliveries to offshore wind turbines conducted in Germany

Getting in touch with the news today that Germany’s first long-range drone deliveries to offshore wind turbines has been completed by Skyports Drone ServicesRWE and Skyways.

Flying an automated ~80km round trip from RWE’s operation and maintenance base in Mukran Port on the German island of Rügen, the drone flew out to the Arkona offshore windfarm with up to 10kg of cargo. Dropping the cargo directly on the wind turbine nacelle, the drone was able to replace a 2-3 hour boat journey with a 30 minute flight, demonstrating a more flexible, efficient and sustainable alternative for delivering small, time critical parts.
