Swedavia’s traffic statistics for September 2025: Continued strong international trend abroad and stable growth in domestic travel.

The strong increase in demand for international travel continues in September. At the same time, domestic travel was at comparable levels to September 2024. During September, more than three million passengers flew via one of Swedavia’s ten airports. This represents an increase of approximately two per cent compared with last year.

The increase in international passengers was highest at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Gothenburg Landvetter Airport and Malmö Airport. After Stockholm Arlanda Airport, the number of domestic passengers increased the most at Swedavia’s regional airports, Luleå Airport, Umeå Airport and Åre Östersund Airport.

During September, more than 3.1 million passengers flew via one of Swedavia’s ten airports. This is an increase of approximately two per cent compared to September of 2024. International travel increased by three per cent, while domestic travel remained at the same levels as last year.  

During September, a total of just over 2.2 million passengers passed through Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Sweden’s largest airport. This represents an increase of seven per cent compared with September of last year. Just under 1.8 million passengers flew internationally while just under 400,000 travelled domestically.

During September, a total of just over 500,000 passengers flew via Gothenburg Landvetter Airport, Sweden’s second largest airport. This is an increase of three per cent compared with September 2024. International travel increased by three per cent, to approximately 480,000 passengers. Domestic travel numbers were comparable to September of last year, with a total of just over 52,000 passengers.

The air travel trend at Swedavia’s other eight airports was mixed in September. Luleå Airport accounted for the largest increase in passengers, followed by Umeå Airport and Åre Östersund Airport. Ronneby Airport and Visby Airport both had a weaker trend compared to September of last year. Bromma Stockholm Airport continued to have the weakest trend, as a result of the airlines’ new plan to focus their investments on Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
