Our Roots
Operating in the north for over forty years, Calm Air has a proud of history of service and a solid reputation as Central Canada’s Regional Airline. From its beginnings in 1962 as a single aircraft operation in Northern Saskatchewan and Manitoba, this family-owned airline has expanded its fleet and spread its wings to over 20 communities throughout Manitoba and Nunavut. While many of the Company’s daily flights depart from and arrive at its southernmost major base in Winnipeg, the North is Calm Air’s home. Calm Air’s Corporate Head Office is located in downtown Thompson, Manitoba, which houses the Company’s Senior Management, Accounting, Administration, Marketing, Sales, and Dispatch Departments, as well as the Reservations Centre. The Company’s main maintenance hangar and cargo facility is located at the Thompson airport.
Our Routes
From Winnipeg, Manitoba in the south to Repulse Bay, Nunavut on the Arctic Circle, Calm Air operates frequent, daily scheduled passenger and cargo flights throughout Manitoba and the Kivalliq Region of Nunavut. Major Calm Air bases and connection hubs are located at Winnipeg, Thompson and Churchill in Manitoba, and Rankin Inlet in Nunavut. Calm Air currently operates 115 scheduled passenger flights each week, with additional seasonal flights added during northern Manitoba’s fishing season and during Churchill’s Polar Bear Season in the fall.
